INDO604: Dayak Mandau Sword

A Dayak Mandau sword from the headhunters of Borneo. The excellent handle is made from deer antler with a large Aso depicted on each side. The handle wrap is the traditional weave, but with steel wire, and the hair looks to be goat. The blade has the traditional concave/convex form and a well forged decoration on the back edge near the tip.     

29" Overall with a 20 3/4" Blade that is 1/4" at the Back Edge. Early 20th century, Borneo, Indonesia.    ....Sold
