Dhal shield from India (possibly Afghanistan) made out of thick animal hide. This shield is missing just about all the red lacquer on both the inside and outside, and it has the strange feature of a tuft of the original animal hair left on the front. The four bronze bosses are well made and have a good patina from age. The handle and original pillow is partially there with some damage to the cloth. 21" dia. 19th century, India.. ....$275.00 |
