|
West African figurative axe made by the Mossi peoples of Burkina Faso. The wood handle and figure have a good glossy patina from age and use. The iron blade has an interesting up-turned blade and is attached in the back by a twisted piece of iron. Though this axe would be a weapon it would have also been a staff of office and prestige to the owner. 25" Overall with a 6" Blade. Early 20th century, Burkina Faso, Africa. ....$275.00 |
