A 19th century parade axe from India. This all iron battle axe was covered in silver koftgari much of which is now gone or hidden under rust. This piece has been cleaned from many years of neglect to reveal some of the silver, but there is still some rust remaining. The axe head is heavy and substantial, but the knife blade is a bit thin for a fighting weapon so I believe this would have been part of the parade armor used on special occasions. 27 1/2" Overall - 11 1/2" Wide - 1" Thick. 19th century, India. ....Sold |
