PH489: Bagobo Sword

Rare 19th century Bagobo sword with scabbard. The dark wood handle has a bronze collar, hand guard and small sword catcher. The wide blade is well forged and shows a slight pattern in the metal. The scabbard is simple, but original and made out of a light wood with a woven fabric cord.    

Deaccessioned from the Children's Museum of Indianapolis in 2010. This sword was donated to the Museum in 1989.

26 1/2" Overall with an 18 1/2" Blade. 19th century, Mindanao, Philippines.    ....Sold
