PH497: Visayan Tenegre Sword

A large and very complete Visayan Monster head Tenegre sword. The handle is horn with the long nosed monster with big eyes, has a silver collar and a horn hand guard. The heavy blade is well forged and has foliage decoration chiseled into the surface. The original scabbard is covered with tooled leather.    

Deaccessioned from the Children's Museum of Indianapolis in 2010. This sword was donated to the Museum in 1947.

27" Overall with a 19" Blade that is 2" Wide and 5/16" Thick at the back.. 19th century, Cebu, Philippines.    ....Sold
