AS465: Turkish Bichaq Knife

Turkish Bichaq knife with ivory handle and embossed scabbard. The ivory handle has a beautiful color from age and use, but there is a crack through the ivory on one side. About half of the red glass pieces are missing from the handle. The scabbard is embossed brass with all of the red glass intact as well as three small turquoise pieces. The blade is well made and inlayed with writing. The museum inventory number is painted on the handle, but it could be easily removed if so desired.

Deaccessioned from the Children's Museum of Indianapolis in 2010. This knife was donated to the Museum in 1948.

15 1/2" Overall - 9" Blade. 19th century, Turkey.    ....Sold
