PH500: Rare Moro Bangkung Sword

A rare form of Moro sword with single edged blade called a Bangkung. The Bankung comes in a variety of handle and blade styles, this one has a Sulu kris type handle and scabbard, but a single edged klewang shaped blade. The wood handle has a fiber wrapped handle and a silver collar. There is a small loss to the fiber string near the bottom. The blade is well forged, but was rusted at one time. There are some pits and imperfections in the metal. The scabbard is in good condition, but the top has a crack that has been glued.     

28 1/2" Overall with a 21" Blade that is 1/4" Thick at the back. Early 20th century, Southern Philippines.    ....Sold
