Moro Kris

PH617: Moro Kris Sword

PH617: Moro Kris Sword

A good quality Moro Kris sword. The cockatoo style handle is made from a nicely grained burl wood with a very good patina from age and use. The original twine handle wrap is in good condition. The blade is well forged showing a linear pattern and hardened edge. The scabbard is the rare type with beautiful burl wood top that looks like an Indonesian Keris scabbard, but it is NOT original to this sword. The two look very good together because the wood of the cockatoo pommel and scabbard top match well, but the blade fit shows it is is not original to this sword. The metal scabbard bands are form some English found metal, and the cloth at the top is part of an old restoration connecting the two pieces of wood. A good looking sword even though not all original matching parts.

27 1/2" overall with a 21 1/2" blade. 19th century Southern Philippines.    ....$650.00
