INDO631: Indonesian Piso Podang Sword

A large Piso Podang sword with long straight blade. The bronze handle has a good patina from age and use. The Piso Podang shows heavy influences from India that had early rule over Sumatra. This type of sword was used by important people in the Batak region and it is found among the Iban of Borneo as well. The large single edged blade looks to be a European trade blade, not native made and is in good condition.
