An unusual Moro Kampilan sword with a sharp back edge. The wood handle is well carved with a good patina from age and use. There is a trophy fabric attached by a twine loop. These fabrics are sometimes seen on Moro swords, but the meaning is not exactly known. The blade is unusual as it has a large sharp back edge making the sword sort of double edged near the tip. The heavy blade shows an active pattern in the metal. The thin simple scabbard is in pretty good condition. The two halves are held slightly together with binding near the tip. 37.5" overall with a 26.25" blade that is 5/16" thick at the back edge.. Early 20th Century, Southern Philippines. Sold
