An unusual sword that is related to the Minasbad sword from the Bicol area of Eastern Luzon. This is a simplified version of the "bat head" sword you often see with the iron hand guard. The well carved horn handle is in the shape of a head that is reminiscent of the Bat head with tall ears. The well forged blade is wedge shaped, rather then flat on one side. 24.5” overall with a 18.5” blade that is 3/8” thick at the back edge. 19th century, Luzon Northern Philippines. Sold
