PH809: Moro Barong Sword

A good quality Moro fighting Barong sword. The burl wood handle has good carved details, a silver collar and natural fiber woven bands. Interestingly the top detail has intricate carving on one side, but not the other. The well forged blade has a slight pattern, distinct hardened edge, and a single "E" like (possibly for Erik?..) character chiseled into the blade. The old scabbard has some loss on the top edge, and modern twine bands.    

25.5” overall with a 15.5” blade that is 5/16” thick at the back edge. Early 20th century, Southern Philippines.
