PH834: Moro Silver Kris Sword

A rare Datu quality silver Kris with 17 waves. The large silver cockatoo pommel is made form thin repousse silver sheet joined together. The original woven twine handle wrap is intact and the stirrups are made of silver. The back tip of the silver is a little bit crushed and out of shape. The outstanding 17 wave blade shows a distinct contrast pattern of the soft core and hardened edges. The old scabbard is not a perfect fit, and half of the top is a modern replacement. A beautiful and rare quality sword.     

27.5 inches overall with a 21 inch blade. 19th century Southern Philippines.
